FullSizeRender 4Lake Norman State Park is 32,510 acres nestled on the northern section of Lake Norman’s 520 miles of shoreline and 34 miles in length.  Lake Norman is the largest manmade lake in North Carolina, which many refer to as the “Inland Sea”.  The park is only 45 minutes from the Queen City- Uptown Charlotte.

The park offers 30.5 miles ofbiking & hiking trails boasted by our popular regional mountain biking meetup groups. After your hiking and biking, stop by the 125-yard-long swim beach and bath house complex for some relaxation.  Have a boat, paddleboard, or kayak?  No problem.  Lake Norman State Park has boat ramps or rentals of pedal boats, kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes are available for rent at the visitor center on Park Lake.Lake Norman State Park Beach_AHomeSuiteHomeA family campground with 32-sites and a group campground are available during warm-weather months, and a community building with kitchen facilities, restrooms and fireplace can be rented for family and group events year round.

Since 2015, Lake Norman State Park built a beautiful Visitors Center offering free interpretive programs are complemented by educational exhibits throughout the center and along the child-friendly Dragonfly Trail.   The park offers year round, inexpensive – things to do for the family.  Great way to spend the day with your out-of-town visitors.  IMG_2301

Beginner short trails range from .15 miles up to more moderate trails totaling 30.5 miles for hiking and biking on Alder Trail with scenic views of Lake Norman.  A favorite is the Lake Norman Shore Trail, wLake Norman State Park Fishinghich weaves through the countryside of LKN.

Care to fish? Most popular species of fish in Lake Norman include crappie, bluegill and perch, catfish, as well as striped, largemouth and spotted bass. The smaller park lake also has some select fishing holes.  Regulations & Licensing of the NC Wildlife Resources Commission apply for all of Lake Norman, our “Inland Sea”.
